These days attachment is literally everywhere… but what is fact and what is fiction, and how can we tell apart myths from reality? Pascal’s talk will focus on one area where there currently is plenty of confusion: the neurobiology of human attachment and its relation to child development.
A lot has happened since the first accounts of attachment’s underlying neurobiology emerged about thirty years ago. While some of these accounts remain valid or have been refined and extended in the meantime, others were importantly amended or even completely replaced. And some accounts that are still used today were not really supported by scientific evidence from the start. In Pascal's talk, he will have a closer look at the most prominent neurobiological attachment accounts, discuss the many implications of oversimplification and misconception and look into constructive and collaborative ways of putting things right.
Pascal will present practical advice developed in collaboration with the UK Charity Babygro based on the latest attachment science and evidence-based attachment interventions to inform parents, practitioners, organisations supporting families and many more.
